Dr. Catherine Titus Scholarship

The Catherine Titus Memorial Scholarship in English, made possible by gifts from Dr. Titus and the Seymour Gitenstein Foundation, is awarded to a junior or senior student who has completed a minimum of 15 hours in English with a cumulative GPA in English of 3.0. Applicants must be of good moral character and show promise of leadership and academic ability in the field of English. Preference is given to Honors Program students and members of Sigma Tau Delta Sorority, the English honorary fraternity.

Dr. Titus taught in the Richmond, MO, School District, served as a captain in the Women s Army Corps during World War II, joined the faculty at Central in 1955 and taught here until her retirement in 1975. She also served as Chair of the Department of English and Literature.
