Military and Veterans Services Scholarship

The Military and Veterans Services Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for a student in good academic standing, who has two semesters remaining, and has exhausted all of their VA benefits. Student applicants must be the primary earner of any veteran’s benefit, transfer of benefit dependent students are not eligible. This scholarship is made possible through generous donations by the Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Foundation to honor the memory and military service of Spencer C. Duncan.

Army Spc. Spencer C. Duncan of Olathe, KS was killed in action on 6 August, 2011 while serving with the 7th Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, U.S. Army Reserve, New Century, KS. The Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Foundation was created to honor the brave men and women who have given, and who continue to give, of themselves to ensure freedom for the people of the United States. The Spencer C. Duncan Make It Count Project is dedicated to supporting organizations, communities, and individuals who choose to make a difference in the lives of veterans. When the Spencer C. Duncan Foundation board president heard about military connected students exhausting benefits just short of graduation, the Spencer C. Duncan Stand In The Gap Scholarship was created. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition dollars to be applied toward degree completion.
