Gloria J. Maxwell Scholarship in History

The Gloria J. Maxwell Scholarship in History is provided by the UCM Alumni Foundation and will provide scholarship support for a student in good academic standing at the University of Central Missouri, be an incoming freshman or transfer student, have a declared major in History, transfer students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA at previous institution. Applicants must write a 250-500 word essay explaining why they have chosen a major in history. Gloria J. Maxwell (UCM ’74, ’75) brimmed with curiosity and a passion for critical thinking. After earning history degrees from UCM, she dedicated much of her life to books (as a librarian) and to the study of history (as a college instructor). This scholarship—made possible by a gift from a close friend—honors Maxwell’s legacy of lifelong learning, intellectual rigor, and enriching the lives of others.
