Beth Tankersley-Bankhead Scholarship in Elementary Education

The Beth Tankersley-Bankhead Scholarship in Elementary Education is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for a sophomore pursuing a degree a degree in Elementary Education who is a first generation student and a graduate of Morgan County High School, Missouri. The scholarship can be renewed each year beyond the sophomore year, provided the student maintains eligibility. This scholarship is made possible by a generous gift from Beth Tankersley-Bankhead ’83.

Dr. Beth Tankersley-Bankhead graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1983 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor and certification in English Education. She is a first-generation college student and a native of Versailles, Missouri.

Beth continued her education by earning a Master of Science degree in Guidance & Counseling with an emphasis on College Student Personnel from Eastern Illinois University. She then earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri.

Beth has spent her career in education, primarily in higher education, where she focused on college access and attainment for all. She strongly believes in providing opportunities to everyone who desires to attain a postsecondary degree and is committed to supporting education as she believes it is the cornerstone of individuals’ lives. Beth is humbled to support students from her hometown area who are pursuing a degree in elementary education.
