Glenn W. Stahl Memorial Scholarship

The Glenn W. Stahl Memorial Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for a full-time junior or senior student pursuing a degree in industrial technology who has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and minimum major GPA of 3.5. and graduated from a high school located in Crest Ridge, MO; Holden, MO; Kingsville, MO; Lees Summit, MO; Pleasant Hill, MO; OR Warrensburg, MO. Preference will be given to a student who is independently financing their education. This scholarship is made possible by way of generous gifts from members of the Stahl Family and the Stahl Specialty Company in memory of Glenn W. Stahl, ‘32 .

Glenn W. Stahl graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 1932, at the age of 19, with a degree in industrial arts education. He founded his business, Stahl Specialty Company, in 1946 by working nights and weekends in a 640-square foot shed in Kingsville, Missouri. He parlayed that small beginning into one of the nation’s longest permanent-mold aluminum foundries, selling products globally.

Mr. Stahl was a philanthropist in the truest sense of the word, living by the creed of “helping others” and “service to mankind,” and was a staunch supporter of the University. He served as a director and president of the UCM Foundation and in 1991 received an honorary doctorate degree from the University for his outstanding accomplishments in the industrial field. Mr. Stahl provided scholarships, internships for students, and jobs for UCM graduates. About 90 percent of the degreed positions within his company were filled by UCM graduates.

Mr. Stahl was born February 18, 1913, and died March 15, 1992. He was married to Blanche Brown Stahl in 1937. They had one daughter, Linda Stahl Moore, who also graduated from UCM in 1967.
