Wilda Dean Creighton Memorial Scholarship

The Wilda Dean Creighton Scholarship in Business Education is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for a junior or senior student pursuing a degree in business education at UCM. This scholarship is made possible by way of a gift from the estate of Wilda Dean Creighton, 52, of Raytown, Missouri.

Wilda Dean Creighton graduated from Creighton High School in 1947 and began her higher education at UCM that fall. She received her BS in Education in 1952, her MS in Business Education in 1958, and an Advanced Degree as Professor Emeritus of Office Administration of UCM in 1972. She was especially proud of that degree and the work it took to acquire it. She taught high school business classes in the Grandview School District for 9 years before joining the faculty at UCM where she retired in 1989 after completing a 27 year career. When she retired, she had literally spent over half of her life at UCM.

During Ms. Creighton’s college years, she was initiated into several honorary organizations: Alpha Phi Delta, Pi Omega Pi, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Kappa Phi. During her professional teaching years, she was honored to join Delta Kappa Gamma. She served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Central Missouri Business Teachers. After retirement she joined the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association and was a life member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and of the Missouri State Teachers Association. Throughout her life Wilda Dean Creighton strived for excellence in everything she did. She expected her students to do the same, and she was very proud to be able to help deserving students achieve their goals of a higher education.
