Noel B. Grinstead Scholarship

The Noel B. Grinstead Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation to the top four-year student majoring in one of the degrees housed in the Noel B. Grinstead Building.

Noel Grinstead was a life-long resident of Johnson County. He graduated from Warrensburg High School and attended UCM for two years before starting to teach high school. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War I and then returned to UCM where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1921. In 1928 he received his master’s degree from Ohio State University and later did additional work at that institution as well as the University of Missouri, Bradley University, the Dixon School of Metal Arts, the Aurora School of Photography and Colorado State University. He taught at UCM from 1921 to 1965 as a Professor of Industrial Arts and later served as Chairman of the Division of Applied Arts and Sciences.

The Noel B. Grinstead building was named in his honor in 1959, and he received the distinguished service award in Industrial Arts from UCM in 1966. After his passing in 1976, this scholarship was established by friends and family in his memory.
