Michael E. Bush Aviation Scholarship
The Michael E. Bush Memorial Aviation Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for an incoming freshman student planning to pursue a degree in aviation technology at UCM who is an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and has passed the Mitchell Test. This scholarship is made possible by way of a generous gift from Dianna Bush of St. Louis, Missouri in memory of Michael E. Bush, ‘97.
Michael E. Bush proudly served his country for over 26 years. He had active service time in both the US Navy and Air Force, during and after Vietnam; was on reserve status with both the Air National Guard and the Air Force; and had worked for the GSA, IRS and Department of Defense for many years as well.
He was also a lifelong aviation enthusiast, commercial-rated pilot, teacher, mentor, and volunteer. He had assisted for many years with the annual Aerospace Education Workshop course held each summer at the University of Central Missouri (UCM), and had taught Air Traffic Control, Air Transportation, Aviation History, and Aviation Law courses there as an adjunct professor. Michael had attended Central Missouri State College during the 1970’s, but had not finished his degree. He returned to school later in life in 1994, and subsequently graduated from UCM with a B.S. in Aviation Safety in December 1997, and an M.S. in Aviation Safety in December 1998.
