Buchhorn-Ellis Education Scholarship
The Buchhorn-Ellis Education Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for a first-generation student in good academic standing who is a member of one of the Divine Nine (9) organizations or the Association of Black Collegians (ABC) and pursuing a degree in Education at the University of Central Missouri. This scholarship is made possible by way of a generous gift from Barbara Buchhorn Stoll, ’74 and Daniel Stoll.
Barbara Buchhorn Stoll graduated from UCM in 1974 with a bachelor of science in education degree in Vocational Secondary Education, with a concentration in Consumer Education and Early Childhood Education. She then completed a bachelor of arts degree in Applied English Language at University of Witwatersrand and a master of arts degree in Applied English Linguistics from the University of South Africa where she and her husband, Daniel, were posted from 1992 to 1995 with the U.S. Foreign Service. During her career in education, she taught English as a Second Language in countries around the world, as well as in the United States. In retirement, Barbara became interested in genealogy and American history. She has established this scholarship for a student aspiring to a career in primary or secondary education.
