Waning Moon Eagle Scout, Micosay Scholarship

The Waning Moon Eagle Scout, Micosay Scholarship is available through the University of Central Missouri Alumni Foundation for students in good academic standing who are a member of Micosay at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation who submit a resume, a letter of recommendation from a Scout Leader, and a 250-500 word narrative describing the impact of Scouting and Micosay on their life. Preference will be given to applicants who have served as summer camp staff at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. This scholarship is made possible by way of a generous gift from Steve ‘76 and Ann Lacey.

The Heart of America Council of Scouting America in tandem with Micosay, an honor camper program at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, has an enormous impact on the youth of western Missouri, eastern Kansas, and Scouts from troops all over the country who attend this camp. This partnership has led the Council to inspire the highest rate of advancement to Eagle Scout among all councils in the country. The young men and women who are Eagle Scouts and in Micosay represent an extraordinary group of young people who are in a unique position to have an immense impact on the nation because of their exceptional accomplishments and character.

This scholarship recognizes and cherishes this relationship and the opportunity to honor outstanding young men and women who are Eagle Scouts and in Micosay to help them further their education and have their accomplishments at UCM add luster to the University and ultimately its alumni. The young people who staff the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation understand this and throw themselves into service there, even though they could earn more money at countless other summer jobs. Eagle Scouts in Micosay who have also staffed will earn special consideration for the scholarship. We hope that this scholarship will help deserving Eagle Scouts choose to serve on staff and help alleviate their financial concerns.
